Newborn

The days and nights are long but those years ahead are so much shorter than they seem. Slow down time for just a moment by booking your newborn session to capture all the smallest of details in such a big life ahead.

Most newborn sessions take place between baby's first 8-16 days of life. The best time to book your newborn session is after your 20-week mark, but we can generally schedule within a week of notice any time. Newborn sessions take place in the studio, where I have an assortment of props, wraps, headbands, hats, outfits, and more. Before your session I’ll spend time putting together sets and ideas based on your preferences and desires. Feel free to bring any family heirlooms, handmade materials you want to incorporate or anything that fits your vision, I’ll take care of the rest.

This is often a parent’s first or few trips out of the house, and as a Mom who has gone through the “home from the hospital” feeling a few times, I know how that feels. The studio will be warm, sanitized, and comfortable for your arrival on your session day. I hope that your visit feels like a home away from home. With over 10 years of experience, all the sessions take place with the comfort and safety of your baby as my #1 priority.

We plan enough time during your session for breaks for feeding & snuggles.

FAQ

What do I need to bring?
I have everything needed for your newborn's photography session, all you have to bring is your baby & everything they'll need to be fed and snuggled close between posing. If you'd like to bring family heirlooms or props please let me know in your newborn intake questionnaire what you'll be bringing, if possible. If you think of something last minute, that's okay! Bring it with you and we can see how to add it to the sets.
When is the best time to book?
Book whenever you're ready! Some parents plan ahead and book during their first trimester while some end up remembering last minute while they're at home to contact me. I never turn down photographing babies! The best age to photograph is usually after 10 days new, but I welcome newborn sessions between 7-14 days new. If your baby is a few days or even a week or so older than that, don't worry, it's not too late! Contact me, I will get you in as soon as we can.
Do you do lifestyle Portraits?
I do! If you'd like to book an in-home lifestyle newborn portrait session, I treat it like an "on location" session, so if your home is within 20 miles of Mabank Texas, there's no travel fee. Anything further I just ask for the travel fee added to your session fee prior to your session. Please clear your home the best you can of labels, distracting clutter, or things that you don't want in the photos. Your home is YOUR home! Don't worry too much about cleaning it spotless, lifestyle isn't lifestyle without a little living! Open the curtains, let the natural light in and let's capture your family in your home.
How long is a newborn session?
I run on baby time! Seriously, I let them decide when they're done with photos. I set the session time to one hour, but often times it can take up to 3. I've had newborn sessions done within 45 minutes, it all depends on your little one and how snooze-y they are! We will do our best to keep baby content with feeding and snuggles, with breaks for both between posing. Besides the baby, I ask that siblings have a 'game plan' if they tend to get restless, after an hour in studio you may want to take bro or sis to the park or for a bite to eat. Feel free to bring an extra person if you need that kind of plan. I'm not uncomfortable with a little chaos, your little ones are at home in the studio. Relax Mama, we've got this!
How long does it take to receive the final edited portraits?
I totally understand the anticipation! I get super excited about showing you the photos! I take a week to proof the photos from your session, you'll get them on a proofing gallery, and then you'll select your favorites! After you select your favorites it'll take around a week to edit the final portraits for ordering. You'll get an ordering gallery where you can choose how you want them!
Why are the Session fee and Ordering separate?
I offer split payments to make the client experience custom to everyone! Not everyone wants the same amount of digitals, and some people would like to have professionally curated wall art, gift prints for loved ones, and digital keepsakes. I love being able to offer my ordering separate so I can let you decide how you want to receive your finished portraits. I don't want to just throw digitals I selected your way, I want YOU to decide which photos you absolutely can't live without from your session and tell me how you want them remembered forever. If you need any help with the ordering process, I'm here! Feel free to ask questions, I'm an open book.
